71: Correlation of motivation and achievement in learning a foreign language pronunciation

The paper reports a part of a large-scale longitudinal experiment done in a group of ELT university students and focused on the correlation between FL (English) pronunciation quality (FLPQ) and several psycholingual factors. One of the factors studied was the motivation to learn a FL pronunciation (FLPM). Students´ FLPQ was subjectively evaluated by five native speakers of English in a 5-point Likert scale in the beginning (pre-test) and in the end (post-test) of an academic year. Students´ FLPM was self-reported in a 15-item questionnaire and evaluated in a 5-point scale in pre-test and post-test. The two variables (FLPQ and FLPM) were then compared and correlated and the strong level of positive correlation was detected between them in a longitudinal perspective.
