Interaction between the human, cultural and pedagogical structures of the school and its physical structure, the building
The symposium intends to draw the attention of the teachers, professors and students to the buildings they inhabit and to make architects aware of the people who will use the structures they plan. This apparently simple goal contains a subtle complexity that we intend to explore during the symposium. An introduction to the topic, through an historical approach to the evolution of the school Typology in relation to its socio-cultural and physical environments, will be given by the Arq. Francisco Moura Veiga, followed by the presentations of Arq. Ricardo Bak Gordon and Arq. José Neves, where they will present a selection of built and unbuilt school projects from their respective practices. Arq. Ricardo Bak Gordon will present the projects of the D. Dinis School in Chelas (Lisbon, Portugal) and the winning proposal for a secondary school in Romanshorn (Switzerland). Arq. José Neves will present the refurbishing project for the Francisco de Arruda primary school (Lisbon, Portugal) and the Building C6 of the Sciences College of the Lisbon University (Lisbon, Portugal). After the presentations, the speakers will engage with the audience in order to take advantage of the chance of bringing together architects, teachers and researchers to generate a constructive dialogue on the realities and possibilities of the interactions between structures.Author(s):
