The aim of this study was investigative on relation between academic seeking help with achievement goals and social goals. Therefore, 400 students were selected among all Isfahan first grade high school students by multistage random sampling. Selected participants received and completed academic seeking help (Ryan and Pentrich, 1998), achievement goals (Elliott and Meg Gregory, 2001), and social goals (Ryan, Hicks and Midgley, 1997) questionnaires. In this study, Pearson correlation was used for data analysis. The results showed positive relation between personal achievement goals, expertise-oriented and performance-oriented goals with accepting academic seeking help; and a positive correlation between expertise-avoidance goals and performance-avoidance goals with accepting academic seeking help. In addition, a significant relationship was found between seeking intimacy goal and social status goal with accepting academic seeking help. The results indicated the importance of considering social and motivational variables (achievement goals and social goals) in association with academic seeking help.Author(s):
