24: RENDIMENTO ESCOLAR DE ALUNOS COTISTAS E NÃO COTISTAS DO CURSO TÉCNICO EM QUÍMICA INTEGRADO COM O ENSINO MÉDIO DO CAMPUS SÃO LUÍS - MONTE CASTELO DO IFMA
Conceptual framework: Among the affirmative action policies in Brazil, there is the Federal Law nº 12.411 / 2012 establishing the system of quotas for access of students from public schools to universities and Federal Institutes. Since 2013, the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão takes 50% of the positions of mid-level technical courses for students from public schools, as required by law. Objectives: To analyze the academic performance of students from the Integrated Technical Course in Chemistry to High School IFMA, São Luís - Monte Castelo Campus. Methodology: Students were classified into 06 groups, with 04 of them relating to quotas for public school, depending on family income and self-declaration of whether or not black / brown / Indian. The other two groups are fromwide competition and people with disabilities. Then students' grades were raised over four semesters of the course and made the average semester grades per share and class, as well as an overall average of four semesters. Results: From this, it was found that the average of students from public schools, not self-declared black / brown / Indian, with per capita income of up to 1.5 minimum wage was the highest in three of the four analyzed semesters. When it made an overall average of all students in four semesters, it was observed that the average of shareholders is only 3.62% lower than the non-quota holders. Conclusion: it is clear that the Quotas Act promotes the required corrections without harming the academic standard of the investigated course.Author(s):
